Resource Mobilization Coordinator

(The Hague, 40 hours p/w)

As the Resource Mobilization Coordinator your first objective is to secure, intensify and increase the collaboration with The Netherlands Red Cross (institutional) donors and partners. You work closely with other teams at NLRC, including Marketing & Fundraising (M&F), Public Affairs, Disaster Response and Preparedness Unit (DPRU), Partnership Unit (PU) including country teams, and technical units. You will also support national societies in strengthening their capacities to engage with donors and provide in-country support to proposal development when needed.

Where are you going to work?

As a Resource Mobilization Coordinator you will be part of the Programme Development and Management (PDM) unit. You will work closely with the Senior Resource Mobilization Coordinator, Business Developer Data & Digital and with colleagues across the department involved in ECHO fundraising. You will report to the PDM Unit Lead. Your role is an important coordination position across the International Assistance department, bringing colleagues, ideas and initiatives together – ultimately leading to bringing in new funding.

You will closely collaborate and coordinate with colleagues from all other units of the International Assistance department, both from Headquarters and abroad, as well as with finance, M&F and Communication. Moreover, you will be liaising directly with other EU National Societies and the Red Cross Red Crescent office in Brussels.

What are your core tasks going to be?

The international humanitarian funding landscape is changing. As NLRC we need to continue to build upon existing relations and partnerships, while advancing on new trends and ways of collaboration. Implementing the international strategy is essential – shifting towards an increased volume of proactive, self-formulated partnerships and opportunities. Your core tasks will be:

  • Coordinate Resource Mobilization on especially EU-ECHO funds of the NLRC international department, incl. new funding opportunities;
  • Monitoring of funding needs and (EU) proposal pipeline;
  • Build the capacity of colleagues (HQ and in country) on institutional donor liaison and proposal development;
  • Coordinate and prepare bids and co-write proposals;
  • Recruit and coordinate consultants for proposal writing activities;
  • Connect with other members of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement (including for example other Red Cross National Societies, IFRC and ICRC) to strategically access funding;
  • Support the process of strengthening resource mobilization capacities of (prioritized) bilateral partners (national societies),
  • Collaboration and team building with the Resource Mobilization Coordinator and across functions involved in fundraising within NLRC.

What do you bring?

We value diversity – in background and experiences. We need people with various cultural backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, and age groups to fulfill our mission.

  • 2 years professional experience in institutional donor liaison (ECHO/ INTPA or other types of EU funding);
  • Minimal 4 years professional experience in institutional donor liaison (in EU, Netherlands Government. Working experience at UN (such as Country Based Pooled Funds), Development Banks, Climate funds or similar donors are considered an asset);
  • Significant experience in business and proposal development – with a track-record of winning proposals.
  • Field based experience in the sub-Saharan Africa or Middle-East is an advantage (private sector or non-profit);
  • Experience working within or with Red Cross Red Crescent partners is an asset.
  • Excellent command of the English language; command of Dutch and/ or French is an asset.

Your talents (competencies)

  • Client focused: it is all about understanding the donor/ client/ partner – and match this with the value we can add.
  • Coordination: lead proposal timelines, reviews, and submission processes, maintaining consistent updates to stakeholders.
  • Quality Focus: deliver well-structured, donor-aligned proposals that meet NLRC standards.
  • Communication: simplify complex information into clear, understandable language.
  • Team player: excellent interpersonal communication skills and the capacity to engage in and maintain effective relationships across departments, cultures and organizational contexts.

What we offer you

The work you do is socially relevant and makes an impact, which sometimes means an impact on yourself. Therefore, we care about your well-being and provide tools to find a good balance.
