Advise the Red Cross on her migration programs!

We are looking for: Cultural Advisors
(project based, by average 4 to 6 hours per week)
Where are you going to work:
The team of Cultural Advisors is part of the Migration & RFL department, and you work closely with program Shelter. You report to the Cultural Advisor coordinator.
Cultural Advisors
Since 2022 the Red Cross works with Cultural Advisors. The Cultural Advisors are a group of individuals who advise on various projects within the Red Cross based on their migration experiences and cultural background. You will work around 4 to 6 hours a week. Through their experiences and knowledge, Cultural Advisors provide access to communities and help the Red Cross to better understand their context and needs. Due to the support the Red Cross provides in Ukrainian and Asylum shelter locations, and to people who are undocumented, we are now especially looking for Cultural Advisors from Ukraine and Cultural Advisors who have recent experience in the asylum system or with being undocumented.
From the position of Cultural Advisor, your core tasks are going to be:
- Advising on the development of new activities and programs;
- Advising on communication and promotion materials;
- Reaching out to the target groups for workshops and other activities;
- Advising on and assisting with needs assessments, evaluations, focus group discussions and questionnaires;
- Supporting during intercultural competence trainings;
- Country presentations to aid workers and volunteers;
- And of course by contributing your own ideas.
Who we are looking for:
- You recognize yourself in our target group because you have migrated to the Netherlands and you have experience with the Dutch asylum / Ukrainian shelter system, or with being undocumented. Because of the cultural background of the people we support, we are especially looking for Cultural Advisors from:
- Ukraine, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Eritrea. But don’t hesitate to contact us if you have another cultural background and meet the criteria!
- You can reflect on your own migration experience and use this professionally.
- You feel a drive to improve assistance to people who migrated to the Netherlands in search for safety and protection.
- You are in contact with people who have recently migrated to the Netherlands and you can easily make contact with new people.
- You are proficient in English and the language of the country of origin.
- You are a good listener, empathetic and able to make sensitive topics discussable.
- You do not need to have experience at the Dutch Red Cross, but it is a bonus if you already know our organization or have experience with working in the humanitarian field.
What we offer you:
A employment contract through an employment agency. A flexible and people-oriented working environment with room for initiative and development. A great opportunity to gain experience in the humanitarian field and expend your professional network. Salary is according to salary scale 10 of the CAO of the NRK depending on education and experience (min. €3.546,30 to €4.780,36 based on fulltime employment. We will hire you for 4 to 6 hours a week). Starting date: preferably May 1st.
The location of our association office is The Hague, within walking distance of Laan van NOI station. We work according to activity-based working, you work partly from home or at the office, just like your other colleagues.
