What does your job entail?
As an operational team leader in the Groningen district, I am responsible for emergency response operations. I explore opportunities for process improvements, coordinate the development of the annual plan, and facilitate and support the relief coordinators in their tasks and responsibilities.
How did you end up joining the Red Cross?
I started as a volunteer because I wanted to be socially engaged. After a few years, when a vacancy arose, I seized the opportunity and applied.
What do you enjoy most about the work?
I love challenges, and I certainly get plenty of them at the Red Cross. One moment, you're dealing with HR matters, the next you're involved in a crisis response, and then you're contemplating the future of the district. Additionally, it's incredibly special to work with volunteers. They have a passion for helping people, and that's unique.
Can you say something about your development at the Red Cross?
Despite the organization being small at the district level, there are many opportunities for growth and development. The organization is continually changing, allowing you to independently explore what your next move could entail.
