What does your job entail?
I maintain contacts with the municipality, chain partners, healthcare providers, and my supervisor. I also manage my team at the location(s), ensuring a pleasant working atmosphere.
How did you end up joining the Red Cross?
Two years ago, when the war in Ukraine began, I changed my life because I wanted to help people in need. I applied and started as a location coordinator at the Ukraine shelter. Currently, I work as a location manager at two sites: Amsterdam and Uithoorn.
What should a new colleague know?
Every day is different, and helping people gives a very fulfilling and grateful feeling. I enjoy working at the Red Cross very much. I feel valued, and my expertise and competencies are recognized. I have a true Red Cross heart, helping people in need regardless of their background.
Be prepared to be very flexible, have an affinity for the work, be stress-resistant, and most importantly, be focused on the people you help. In case of emergencies, everyone contributes so we can scale up as a team.
Can you say something about your development at the Red Cross?
I started as a location coordinator, working satisfactorily at the Ukraine shelter. I have received many trainings and completed e-learning modules. At a certain point, I was able to grow into the role of location manager of two locations. I can always rely on my manager and my colleagues. I can also work on my personal development. This benefits my qualities as a leader of my team at both locations!
